Height
It may sound obvious, but once you have roof bars & a roof box on your vehicle it will be much higher.
Therefore going into car parks or under barriers is a very bad idea unless you know your car including the roof box will fit.
The biggest killer of roof boxes are underground car parks & barriers!
Please be aware that if a roof box gets split / cracked / badly damaged as a result of going under a barrier, most likely I can't continue to hire it & so you will loose your deposit.
Going Abroad
You are very welcome to take any of our roof boxes abroad, but be aware that most ferry companies and possibly Euro Tunnel will ask you the height of your vehicle (including any roof bars & box) and allocate you a space based on the height of the vehicle. This is because they will put the height of the floor you are allocated to based on the height of the vehicles on it.
If you fail to let them know that you have a roof box on your vehicle (as far as the height measurement provided) you may hit problems when trying to board the ferry / Euro Tunnel. Contact them as soon as possible if in doubt.
Please also be aware that some French Toll Roads have height restrictions in certain lanes, so consider this when driving on them.
As an aside, we do have Magnetic UK stickers, 4 high vis jackets, a warning triangle & even light deflectors - you can hire the lot for £5 (with £20 deposit). These will all be required if driving in France.
Liability
I will ask you to check that any roof bars or roof box I fit for you are securely fitted before you leave.
I will also show you how they are fastened in case you wish to remove them when you reach your holiday destination or in the rare event that anything needs tightening.
Before each journey, just check that bars & box are securely fitted.
The roof bars & roof box are your responsibility until the time they are returned.
