What to Look Out For
Height
Once roof bars and a roof box are fitted, your vehicle will be significantly taller. Always be mindful of this when entering car parks or driving under barriers.
-
Underground car parks and barriers are the most common cause of roof box damage.
-
If a roof box becomes split, cracked, or badly damaged from hitting a barrier, it cannot be rehired and your deposit will be forfeited.
Going Abroad
You are welcome to take our roof boxes abroad, but please note:
-
Ferry companies and Euro Tunnel will ask for the full height of your vehicle, including roof bars and box, to allocate the correct space.
-
Failing to declare the roof box may cause problems when boarding. Contact the operator in advance if unsure.
-
French toll roads: Some lanes have height restrictions, so plan accordingly.
We also offer a European travel kit (Magnetic UK stickers, 4 high‑vis jackets, and a warning triangle) for hire at £5 plus a £20 deposit. These items are required when driving in France.
Liability
-
Before leaving, you will be asked to check that the roof bars and roof box are securely fitted.
-
We will show you how they are fastened, so you can remove or tighten them if needed during your trip.
-
Always check fittings before each journey.
-
The roof bars and roof box remain your responsibility until they are returned.
